Mother Dolphin and Calf, Downtown Jacksonville, St. Johns River

Dolphins love to swim up from the Atlantic Ocean into the St. Johns River flowing through the middle of Downtown Jacksonville.

Dolphins and other wildlife are why we must keep stormwater runoff and the river clean.

They surfaced to take a breath then they were gone.

So quickly.

Like time.

  1. Aha! I KNEW it! I was in Jacksonville this past weekend. I was looking out at the St. John's from my hotel window, when I caught a fleeting glimpse of a dolphin coming up for air. It was a delightful thing to see (in the river!)---even if no one believed me. They tried to tell me I'd seen a manatee, but I've seen enough of both to know the difference. I was excited like a kid, and reading this post, I feel vindicated! I love the St. John's River. It was such a major part of my childhood. Dolphins! I never knew. Yet another reason to protect the river.
